Liv With Acne

It was November 2019, I was turning 18 in just a few weeks time. For most 17 year olds the weeks running up to your 18th birthday are filled with excitement and occasion planning. Not for me. I spent my time hidden away from people, lights.. everything, all because of the inflammatory condition I had suffered for the past 7 years… acne.

Being at my lowest point, disgusted by my reflection and wasting my youth hiding in a dim room lacking motivation to wash, brush my hair or socialise for days at a time, I swallowed my first accutane capsules on my 18th birthday. It could only be up from here?

Over the next 6 months consuming accutane (the worlds strongest legal drug for acne) my skin cleared up. I reclaimed my life back for the first time in 7 years! Getting out and socialising became my favorite thing to do as well as learning new holistic practices through my college studies.

2 years of blissful clear skin had passed when I decided to come off hormonal contraception to allow my hormones to balance naturally.

But then my worst fears came true. My acne was back. My confidence stripped.

Another round of accutane for a quick fix was entrancing, but through my holistic studies I now knew that the human body is capable of unimaginable self healing when given the right environment. I realised that my root cause was poor gut health and hormonal imbalance, so my nutrition journey began.

Liv With Acne was born:

Created in November 2023, Liv With Acne is safe space for acne warriors to learn to live with acne by healing holistically with great focus on gut health. A real community.

Since growing LWA in my own time (as a hobby), I haven’t just been able to help people all over the globe heal their acne naturally, I’ve learnt so much about my target audience which has enabled me to make data driven decisions for future content. And it’s working.

Helping real people is something I’ve devoted my life to, so it only makes sense that my next career move is somewhere I’m able to make a positive impact to people.

I hope I’m able to make a difference, one post at a time.
